It's in ink
It's really official now: Pavel Datsyuk actually signed his contract today and will begin practices with the team tomorrow.
The details I gave earlier turned out to be a little wrong, however. His contract is apparently for two-years, $7.8 million (instead of $7.6 million), meaning he will earn $3.9 million this season. That makes him the second highest paid player on the team (he is no longer tied with Robert Lang at $3.8 million a year).
So unless something wholly unforeseen happens, we will see Pavel Datsyuk in the Winged Wheel again, probably as soon as Wednesday night.
Congratulations, Pavel, and welcome back. I hope you'll earn that money.
