More on Dom and the Sens

The Ottawa Sun has confirmed what we in Detroit have known for months: Dominik Hasek will not be returning to the Red Wings next season. And for that bit of amazing journalism, I think a Pulitzer is in order. Seriously though, the Wings have made what they've been saying for months official, an NHL source told the Sun yesterday, and have given Dominik the freedom to talk with other teams. Although the Rangers and Canucks are possibilities, the source said
"I really believe Ottawa is his No. 1 option. He really wants to come back next year and show everybody what happened last year was purely a result of injuries (playing a mere 14 games due to a recurring groin injury). And he wants to show he is a top-flight goalie in this league. "I know one thing, he wants to win a Cup."
Dom's agent isn't confirming or denying reports that he has been talking with the Sens and wouldn't say whether or not Dominik had a face-to-face meeting with Ottawa GM John Muckler this weekend. He won't say anything until Dom makes a decision. I still think Hasek's making a mistake but if the Wings get something half-decent in return, it'll be a good deal.
