GameDay: vs. Minnesota (14-14-7-0), 7:30 EST

Tonight is the third of four games this season between these two teams. They skated to a 1-1 tie on November 15 in the first game and the Wings won the second 5-2 on November 22. The Wings are looking to add another win to this season's 14-3-0 record at home and to extend their eight game winning streak at the Joe to nine games. Their last four games have been one-goal games, including three at home. They are coming off a very important win over the St. Louis Blues on Monday. After going 2-6-2 in the ten games before their win over the Sabres on December 13, the Wild are unbeaten in six, a season high for them. Their offense is on fire and has scored 20 of their 77 goals during that stretch. Minnesota is coming off a 3-3 tie with the Predators in which they came back three times before the end. Curtis Joseph will likely start tonight, though Manny could as well. The two goalies will probably split the next two games so whoever sits tonight will most likely play Sunday. Tomas Holmstrom is listed as out so don't expect to see him tonight. Steve Thomas is two to four weeks away from a return. Tonight is another important game for the Wings, who really have very little room to make mistakes and lose with the rest of the Western Conference right on their heels. The Wings had a four point lead over the rest of the Conference and were back just one point of the NHL leader, Toronto, but that could change very quickly if the Wings lose their focus. This is just another opportunity for the Wings to get a win over a hot team and continue to climb the standings. Freep | News | ESPN
