Some big news around the league today: A report is saying that Patrick Roy will announce his retirement in a news conference @ 4 ET on Wednesday. The source is one from the team and of course gave the information on a condition of anonymity. The Avalance later said that Roy will make a "special announcement" regarding his career during the conference. If this report is true, it is very good news for us Wings fans. In my opinion, Roy's retirement would instantly drop the Avs out of contention and make them much less of a threat in the West. They'll still be a good team but they can't win without a #1 goalie and there are no real #1 goalies available. None nearly as good as Roy, at least.
