Finally...... ......some Red Wings related news: The nominations for the NHL Awards have finally come out. And they are..... Hart Trophy (league MVP) Martin Brodeur - Goalie - New Jersey Devils Led all goalies with 41 victories and 9 shutouts Peter Forsberg - Center - Colorado Avalanche NHL's points leader with 106 points in 75 games Markus Naslund - Winger - Vancouver Canucks Career high 104 points and league leading 54 PP points My pick: I'd say Forsberg because he's probably the best player in the world but I'm going to say Naslund Norris Trophy (best defenseman) Derian Hatcher - Dallas Stars Played all 82 games scoring 30 points (8G, 22A). Was a +37 Nicklas Lidstrom - Detroit Red Wings Sixth consecutive nomination. Scored 62 points (18G, 44A) Al MacInnis - St. Louis Blues Led all defenseman with 68 points (16G, 52A) in 80 games My pick: Is there any doubt? Nicklas Lidstrom, by far. Calder Trophy (best rookie) Barrett Jackman - Defense - St. Louis Blues Led Blues and was second among all rookies with a +23 Rick Nash - Winger - Columbus Blue Jackets Third among rookies in scoring with 39 points (17G, 22A) Henrik Zetterberg - Winger - Detroit Red Wings Led all rookies in scoring with 44 points (22G, 22A) My pick: Again, is there any doubt? Henrik Zetterberg Selke Trophy (best defensive forward) Jere Lehtinen - Winger - Dallas Stars Led the Stars and was fourth in the NHL with a +39 John Madden - Center - New Jersey Devils Career high 41 points (19G, 22A) and +13 in 80 games Wez Walz - Center - Minnesota Wild Tallied 32 points (13G, 19A) in 80 games with a +11 rating My pick: I'll say Wes Walz Lady Byng Trophy (sportsmanship) Nicklas Lidstrom - Detroit Red Wings Finalist for fifth consecutive year, 38 PIM in 82 games Mike Modano - Dallas Stars 30 PIM in 79 games. Tied for fourth in NHL in assists (57) Alexander Mogilny - Toronto Maple Leafs 12 PIM in 73 games, led the Maple Leafs in scoring with 79 points My pick: I want Nick to win it but I'm guessing Modano will Vezina Trophy (best goalie) Ed Belfour - Toronto Maple Leafs 37-20-5, 2.26 GAA, .922 save percentage, 7 shutouts Martin Brodeur - New Jersey Devils Led all goalies in victories (41) and shutouts (9) with a 2.02 GAA Marty Turco - Dallas Stars Led NHL in GAA (1.72) and save percentatge (.932) with 7 shutouts My pick: Martin Brodeur. It's about time he got it. Jack Adams Trophy (best coach) Jacques Lemaire - Minnesota Wild Led Wild to playoff berth in third season with 42-29-10-1 record Jacques Martin - Ottawa Senators Led Senators to 52-21-8-1 record and frachise-record 113 points John Tortorella - Tampa Bay Lightning Led Lightning to playoffs for first time since 1995-96 My pick: Jacques Lemaire. He's easily the best coach in the NHL, even if I hate his system. Hartley too but..... Go vote on your own picks at Sportsnation.
