GameDay: @ Carolina (12-15-8-2, 34) 7:00 EST

Tonight is the first of two meetings this season between these two former Stanley Cup Finalists. The Wings will be looking to score their first road goal in almost three weeks. They have been out scored 4-0 in their previous two road games and have not scored on the road since December 13 when they beat the Caps 5-1. The Wings are 9-3-2-1 in the past 16 games and are riding a 10-game unbeaten streak at home. They are coming off a close 6-5 win over the Trashers on Wednesday. The Hurricanes fired head coach Paul Maurice on December 15 and are 4-3-0 under their new coach Peter Laviolette. They continue to struggle offensively, however, and have just 11 goals in their past seven games. They are coming off a 3-1 home loss to the Ducks on Wednesday, a game in which they only had 18 shots. Curtis Joseph will get the start tonight for the Wings. Dominik Hasek is still 2-3 weeks away from returning. Jason Woolley will return to the ice tonight. Dave Lewis will move Mathieu Dandenault to forward and keep Niklas Kronwell on defense to make room for him. This is a good opportunity for the Wings to get what should be a relatively easy win. We know the Wings can play with the best but tonight's a chance for them to prove that they can play with the lower tier teams. They've had a hard time this season with under-.500 teams and they need to change that. Hopefully they'll show good focus tonight and get it over with as quickly as possible. There would be no excuse to lose to the 'Canes. They aren't a struggling Original Six team. Get it done, guys. Freep | News | ESPN
