Wings 4, Oilers 4

Oilers goalie Tommy Salo stuffs Brendan Shanahan on the penalty shot in last night's game The Wings came back from a two-goal deficit and in turn gave up their own two-goal lead to the Oilers last night in Edmonton. Detroit scored 4 unanswered goals in the 2nd period to take a 4-2 lead but squandered that lead in the 3rd, allowing the game to go to overtime where thankfully they did not lose. Manny Legace started the game after Curtis Joseph hurt his groin in the morning skate. He looked good, as usual and probably kept the Wings in the game because the defense was doing its Swiss cheese impression. Both teams were sloppy on offense, turning the puck over constantly in the neutral zone. Following their usual pattern of screwing the Wings every other game, the refs didn't call Detroit for everything last night, though they still made bad calls. Though it was a favorable one for the Wings, the penalty shot call wasn't very good, in my opinion. It looked like Salo just lost his grip on the stick in his attempt to make the save rather than that he tried to throw it in order to make the save. Either way, it meant nothing as Shanahan failed to score. Darren McCarty, Brett Hull, Kris Draper and Pavel Datsyuk scored 5:27 apart to pull a head of the Oilers in the second period. Georges Laraque was a gametime decision and played afterall for the Oilers. The Wings are winless in their last 4, going 0-3-1-0 and have fallen to 5-5-1-0 and 2nd place behind the Blues in the Central Division.
